The Downtown Staten Island Council has hired renowned architect and urban designer Pablo Vengoechea to help the Council create its urban design plan for the downtown area. Vengoechea is the vice-chair of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and served on the Staten Island Growth Task Force.
“Pablo has the skills to forge that vision for us,” said Daniel Marotta, St. George resident and Chair of the Council’s Advisory Committee. The Council obtained $33,000 from the city’s Department of Small Business Services to pay for the study. “I think people really feel the buzz now,” said Marotta.
