Free Light Bulbs for Staten Island Homeowners
A program offered to homeowners to trade in their traditional incandescent bulbs for more efficient compact florescent ones. The Houston based company won a $17 Million four-year contract to install the bulbs to install the bulbs around homes around the borough over several years.
So far, about 2000 south shore residents have taken advantage of the program, according to Charles Weitzel of Free Lighting Corp. The conversion is free and can save a homeowner $40 to $50 a year, according to the Free Lighting Corporation conversion program funded by Consolidated Edison.
